Betty Nell Carmichael was born on December 2, 1935 in Richmond, Virginia; to the late Marie & Albert Sidney Hatcher.
While in Virginia she received her elementary and secondary education. In 1959 Betty packed up and moved to Newark, NJ. Betty was married twice in her life time to the late Eugene Bond and Jack Carmichael, Sr.
Betty was a loving, warm and welcoming person. If needed a place to stay, a plate of food, a babysitter or perhaps a listening ear she was there and her door was always open. Betty fought a great but long fight, she held on as long as she could. Her passion was children seeing and teaching them was her world. She will be greatly missed.
Betty departed this life on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at home surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita McDaniel and Annie Hatcher, one brother, Sidney Hatcher and two children, Linda Carmichael and Sidney Hatcher.
Betty leaves behind with saddened hearts: four sisters, Louise Kearney, Peggy, Mary and Frances Hatcher; one brother, Jerry Hatcher; five children, Fredrick Bond, Brenda Carmichael, Anthony Bond, Angelo Bond and Jack Carmichael, Jr.; eighteen grandchildren, Jameelah, Zina, Kabeerah, Toya, Nadia, Tanisha, Dashon, Darnell, Kyle, Shanille, Quanah, Theresa, Nahim, Hadi, Fred, Paul and Steven; two grandsons-in-law, Kareem Williams and Ikei Foxworth; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
