Sam Jones, Jr., 80 years old, of 104 Milford Avenue, Newark, NJ was a loving husband, father and uncle, he entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 with the support of his wife, family and friends by his side. Sam was born on April 13, 1929 in the city and state of Robersonville, North Carolina, to the late Sam Jones, Sr. and Mildred Rollins Jones into this union nine children were born.
Sam was educated in the Robersonville School system. Sam relocated to Newark, New Jersey in 1951 where he made the union with Ollie Mae Turner Jones, the daughter of the late Ernest and Elnora Turner of Robersonville, NC. From this union one child was born, the late Samuel Jones, Jr.
Sam was employed as a Local Truck Driver for Business Furniture for forty-five years until his retirement in 1994, a job which he enjoyed and developed many friends.
He lived his life to the fullest, cherished and enjoyed each day among family and friends and enjoyed talking and teasing. In his spare time he loved to wash & wax his car and keeping his block clean. Yes Sam we shall all miss you.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Lula (Rat) Jones, Columbus and Robena Jones and Rufus and Lillie Mae Jones, two sisters, Rebecca (Tina) Jones and Martha Edwards, three brothers-in-law, Ernest, Jr. and wife, Myrtle Turner, Willie James Roberson and Lawrence Turner.
Sam leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Ollie Mae Jones of Newark, NJ; two sisters, Ethel Roberson of Newark, NJ and Peggie Pierreville of East Orange, NJ; one brother and wife, Robert and Marion Jones of Greenville, NC; brother-in-law, Lenwood and Mary Turner of Newark, NJ; one sister-in-law, Fannie Mae Turner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
