Our beloved Curtis King was called Home to eternal rest on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. Almighty God decided that he endured enough pain and suffering, so he took a breath and entered the gates of golden rest.

Curtis King was born July 21, 1961 to the late Pearlie Mae and Clifford King in Newark, New Jersey. He departed this life on October 21, 2008, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Irvington, NJ.

Curtis was educated in the Newark Public School system. Basketball great, Shaquille O'Neal and Curtis grew up together and were old childhood buddies.

He was a devoted employee at Glopak Packaging in Newark for 18 years where he was the Supervisor.

Curtis had gone through a transition in his life and through God's blessings had become a mentor and helped save the lives of countless others. The impact of his counseling wisdom and positive influence on so many others survived his passing.

He was well known and loved throughout his community. His love for people, from all walks of life, was expressed by his compassion, kindness and generosity for others. While we all know he is in a better place he will truly be missed.

Curtis King leaves to cherish his memory: devoted and loving wife, Tywane King; children, Starr (Harry) James, Shakirah Darman , Dornell Tanksley, Stephan Farrar, Tyheerah Tanksley and Johnathan Tanksley; grandchildren, Shagoitte, Shavon, Starr-Asia and Aamiyah; brother, Wayne Garnes; sister-in-law, Felicia; nieces & nephews, Dela, Chekesha, Kenyetta, Kahlil and Kabril; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever." Psalm 23:6
