Harold Gaston Foy, the sixth child and fourth son of the late Claude and Rosebud Foy was born on February 18, 1916 in Oriental, North Carolina (Pamlico County).
Harold was an active, friendly and funny child. He attended school in Oriental, NC and confessed religion at an early age.
He met Grace Rouse, when the family traveled to the country in Beaufort, NC. They married in 1938 and had a son named Harold Nelson Foy in 1939 who preceded him in death in 2009.
Some time later, he traveled to New York and married Jesse L. Harden in 1960. The stayed together for thirty-four years until her untimely death in 1994.
Harold departed this life at 6:20 a.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2010 in Manor Care Nursing Home in Mountainside, NJ.
Preceding him in death were his son, Bishop Harold Nelson Foy; his sisters, Ethel Foy Bess, Dorothy Foy Belton and Marian Elizabeth Foy Evans Latham, his brothers, Ernest Foy, Lawrence Foy, Elbert Foy, Wilbert Foy and Claud Foy.
He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter-in-law, Mother Helen Joyce Edwards-Foy; three grandchildren, Helen Grace Anderson (Jelester), Herman Nelson Foy (Valerie), Hector McKenzie Foy (Cassandra), seven great grandchildren, Candice, Jelester III, Marquita, Hector Jr., Benjamin, Jonathan and Bashirah; two great great grandchildren, Craig and Aya; one brother, Willie Calvin Foy (Wilhelmina); two sisters, Etta Marie Foy Forbes and Rosebud Foy Whitney; three brothers-in-law, Ray Rouse, Wilbert Rouse and George Rouse; one sister-in-law, Holly Rouse; and over a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.
